Math and Art :

Artists have always relied on math when they are creating statues, portraits, abstract art, or working with different materials. Math can be used to determine angles, shape, distance, light, and overall theme. Most people do not realize the amount of mathematical skill that a person has to have in order to create a work of art. There are different types of artists as well. Architects, draftsmen, and computer animation all rely on math to create their works of art. Buildings and graphics have to fit certain criteria in order to be recognized in the world. Working with math enables these people to create new landscapes and new views of the world.

Abstract are relies oftentimes on geometry for its inspiration. Artists will use shape, shadow, and light to convey their message. It is a time consuming undertaking when trying to get all the shapes to fit correctly. But artists will spend days rearranging their pieces until it is perfect. Then they will paint, mold, or shape their pieces until they are perfect. Math is not only used to calculate size and shape, it is also inspiration to artists who want to show unique shapes with other shapes to create a piece of art that is beautiful and that makes a statement. These works of art can often be found in museums that were built using math. People who constructed the building and who designed use math to make sure it would fit and it would be large enough to house great works of art.
